Budgeting Towards Better Health

What does finances have to do with holistic living? When your finances are in order, doesn't that make life a tad bit easier.

When your finances are in order, you are now able to afford that which you thought u could not. And besides having your bills paid on time and avoiding penalties; you also having the allotted money to do all that you desire and or your needs. This is important to your wellbeing, and how you view and feel about your life.

Savings give you a sense of security; no matter what happens you and your loved ones will be fine. This also reduces stress and sometimes familial pressure.

So how do you do all this? Has anyone ever taught u? Did u learn growing up how to manage your money and your finances? I surely did not! The example I grew up with was, we all went shopping every weekend, and stress about bills at the end of the month. So when I grew up and got a job, that's what I did, every two weeks I was in Walmart, so much, that most of the cashiers knew me there. To this day I don't know what I bought exactly, I just knew that I shopped. I felt good knowing I could shop and have all these frivolous things. But what did I really gain from that? I made all that money and gave it all away. Yes I felt empowered, but it didn't really help my future much. I wish I knew then what I know now. I would've saved a whole lot of it, traveled more, invest in a better car, and been much further in life.

How do you get there, you say? Here are some quick steps and tips to get you started!

Step 1: Begin is by making a list of all your expenses including bills, transportation, fast food, shopping,or whatever else u buy, even if it's a $1 coffee. After creating  this list you now have a visual of your budget.

Step 2: Total it up then subtract this total from your wages or income.

Step 3: Analyze this list as you now have a clear look at your budget.
Tip: If you are in a negative, now you can look at your budget and maybe cut some costs.

Tip 2 : If you are in a positive here you now have extra to save.

Tip 3: Savings doesn't always have to be extra. It can be an expense.

For me, savings is almost at the top of my list , and even if I cannot afford to then I cut cost someway somehow. I need to have that savings even if it's just $10.

I have a few methods of savings and adjusting my finances but let's start here. How does it feel to now see and feel what you spend? What difference does it make now that you know? For me just creating a budget was empowering. Now I can see. I used mint.com initially for this process. However, pen and paper works just fine. Does this make life better? You tell me...

Homemade Deodorant Recipe

10/26/2014

Picture
We're told we have to wear antiperspirant under our armpits or suffer the horrid consequences. Smelly armpits! Social unacceptably! Ridicule! Oh no! Who would want to go outdoors without antiperspirant. I know a few years ago that was me. I would not walk out the door without my Secret, nowadays I usually forget to put deodorant on and I don't smell like I just left the gym.

Why do we sweat anyway, or have hair under our armpits? There is a lymph node in our armpit that releases toxins via hair and sweat. The toxins that are released determine the scent of the build up sweat. Antiperspirants prevent you from sweating thus clogging up those toxins in the armpit area, usually spilling over into the breast. As we attempt to #freetheboobies, we must also free those pits. Allow your body to release toxins by keeping the pores open, and the hair in place. How exactly do we do that with out suffering. Natural deodorant, essential oils, fruits like lemon, vegetables like potatoes, and other home remedies. Try this homemade deodorant!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch (antiperspirant properties)
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (antibacterial)
  • 40 drops of tea tree or lavender essential oil (antibacterial, anti fungal)
  • 20 drops of one or a combination of lemon, orange, peppermint, or other essential oil combination suited for you

Directions: Melt the coconut oil. Mix all the ingredients together and place in a jar. Apply and go. I suggest you experiment with the right amount needed. Not too much, and not too little. Htp

#Freetheboobies This campaign was started to bring awareness of the harshness of bra's. Growing up women are usually taught to wear bra's even before they have breast. Remember training bra's? As I think about it, what were they really training? I believe they were training us in the habit of wearing a bra daily. I remember getting excited to wear one to feel grown, like most children do, but what was I really getting myself into. Most who know me, know that my breast were rather large. I'm not sure when they got that way I just remember going from training to about a C cup. I was always reminded to wear a bra, not only outside, but in the house, to bed, and just about anytime I wasn't naked. Of course I obliged because of the fear of saggy titties. Saggy titties! Wearing a bra leads to saggy titties. If we look at the breast tissues, a lot of it is muscle, and with any muscle in the body it needs exercise. And if we have these muscles inactive most of the time glued to our chest. Then just like an abdominal muscle that doesn't get any play will flab, so will our breast. When we free our boobies, we give our breast muscles a chance to get stronger just by bouncing around with our daily activities.
I know I hear it coming, I can't go outside without a bra, what would people say, my breast are too big. Hmmm objections. I too shared these same objections to begin with but when I heard that being bra free can help me have perkier breast, and on top of that prevent cancer I was ready! Bras enables the breast to form cancerous tumors. They prevent proper blood and lymphatic circulation throughout the breast. The lymph is responsible to removing waste from the body, and if it isn't able to flow freely then where do you think that waste is going? No where, stuck right there in the breast. #Freetheboobies and allow for your breast to be healthy.

Here are a few tips to begin to #freetheboobies

  1. Wear a sports bra
  2. Wear cami tops
  3. Wear undershirts
  4. Wear shirts with built in bras
  5. Wear fitted tank tops
  6. Wear nothing at all

These are some of the things I did in my freedom journey. I started being a DDD, and I know you can too! At any size. Comment, Share, and give us some Feedback!

Tittie Tapping

Our breasts are located in the heart chakra area. As women when we are emotional we sometimes feel lots of energy ball up in our chest. Now add a tight bra that holds that energy there to fester. Has anyone ever taught you how to release that ball of energy? Have you ever thought about how this energy may or may not affect you long term? This energy can build up and manifest itself as breast cancer. So free yourself from these low vibrational energies. As part of the #freetheboobies campaign, lets also free our hearts, from pain, despair, hatred, jealousy and replace them with some high vibrational emotions. Try this tapping video to learn how to open up the heart chakra and release that energy.

Prevention is better than cure. Have healthier breast by taking care of them vs checking to see if there is something wrong after the fact. This massage is a fun way to have healthier, perkier breast. It reaches all the points of the breast that needs love and circulation. When I teach breast massage this is the technique I use and enjoy. In honor of breast cancer prevention, try this massage at least 3x weekly to begin with, and then make it a part of your daily routine.

Lung Healing Music Therapy

10/12/2014

I've grown to like binaural beats. Listen to the sounds that affect sound frequency healing on the mind and body. My 1st REAL connection to sound therapy was when I attended an event for couples. As the frequency played we were told to focus on our challenges, no speech. At the end we ended up knowing each others feelings and moved forward in healing and improving our relationship. I am now an advocate for sound or music therapy. Give it a try and share what you think.

The sound in this video is low, so use headphones to hear the sounds to meditate and heal your lungs! Happy Lungs Awareness Month.

If your nose runs due to sinusitis or sinus infection caused by some bacteria, virus or fungi, onion can come to your help. Onion contains sulfur which has strong antibacterial properties. Get this:

2. Boil the water in a pot.
3. Add slices of onion to the boiling water.
4. Let it boil for about 5 minutes.
5. Take the hot liquid in a cup.
6. Inhale the steam for a couple of minutes.
7. Drink the onion tea while still inhaling its steam.

Drinking Water for Healthy Lungs

10/5/2014

Picture
This is a simple, free method to healthier lungs and a more holistic life. Drink way more water. Also be sure to avoid all caffeine, and include some sea salt or pink salt in your diet. This has been shown to work for many people. There are some daily habits that we partake in that may contribute to our lungs or breathing aliments. We are exposed to air transported toxins from gas fumes, chemical cleaners, hair products, perfumes, everyday toiletries, and even riding the trains. Because our bodies loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it's important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contains water. Drinking water is good for full body health it helps cleanse the body and nourishes it, keeping everything in working order. Without water our bodies would go into a dehydrated state and things would be out of balanced, so its important to keep the body well hydrated to stay in good working order.

4 Foods That Helps You Breathe Better

10/5/2014

Picture
Whether you suffer from lung disease, asthma or apnea, what you eat can dramatically effect how you breathe.

1. Plenty of Ionized Alkaline Water
Always drink plenty of fluids. Keeping well hydrated will help keep mucus thin, which makes it easier to cough up.

2. Avocados
They contain an important antioxidant called glutathione. Experts in general hail the health-promoting qualities of antioxidants far and wide. Their role in the body is to protect cells against the damage inflicted by free radicals. Avocado, be it in a salad or in a snack, are also are rich in monounsaturated fat, the kind of fat you actually want in your diet because it helps lower cholesterol.

3. Apples
People who reported eating two to five apples a week had a 32% lower risk of asthma than people who ate less. There are compounds in apples known as flavonoids that may be responsible. One flavonoid in particular, khellin, has been shown to open up airways.

4. Carrots
Consuming Vitamin A enables your body to defend itself against bacteria, toxins and other infection causing pathogens. When the body isn't supplemented with that, those who are prone to lung aliments, can be lead to dangerous infections, pneumonia and other respiratory problems. Carrots contain substantial amounts of vitamin A that prevent that.

You can always turn this concoction into a smoothie or ingredients of a salad or just a snack. What ever your heart desires, enjoy it.

Salt Foot Bath

9/28/2014

Picture
Taking a Salt foot bath has multiple benefits.
  1. Stress drains the body of magnesium and increases levels of adrenaline. When dissolved in warm water,  salt is absorbed through the skin and replenishes the level of magnesium in the body.
  2. Studies also show that Epsom salt can help regulate electrolytes in your body, ensuring proper functioning of the muscles, nerves and enzymes.
  3. The sulfates in Epsom salt help flush toxins and heavy metals from the cells, easing muscle pain and helping the body to eliminate harmful substances. Your skin is a highly porous membrane and adding the right minerals to your bathwater triggers a process called reverse osmosis, which actually pulls salt out of your body, and harmful toxins along with it.
